At the bottom of the second page of your message notes, you’ll typically find our RPMs for the week (Read, Pray, Memorize). We started these a little over a year ago at the suggestion that we provide the Scripture passage for the next week’s message (when possible), giving folks a chance to prepare their hearts and minds ahead of time.

We added the memorization challenge and prayer request in the hopes that we could focus those same hearts and minds, if even just a little bit, in the same direction each week.

I want to draw your attention to highlight our prayer focus this week, as we are hopeful it might represent something a little bigger down the road.

This past Monday, we provided dinner for the Protestant Ministry’s weekly gathering at the Florida Institute of Technology (FIT). Realizing the student population will be significantly greater in the fall, we thought the summer would provide a good opportunity to “get our feet wet” and see how things unfold on campus. What we would eventually like to see happen, as we continue to follow the leading of the Holy Spirit, is the development of a ministry to collegiate-aged students throughout our area. I’m honestly not entirely certain exactly what this looks like or all that He intends it to be… All I know is that He has commissioned us to take these first steps.

Get to know these students. Earn the right to become a part of their lives—one step at a time. With that in mind, I’ve asked Bailey Briscoe, our new Family Ministry Associate, to write next week’s article and share with you the heart that God has given her for loving, serving, and reaching this particular group, this incredible generation. I’d also like to ask you to begin praying… for Bailey, for FIT, for Eastern Florida, for those learning skills and trades, for the college students in our area… for the United States … that we might hear God’s voice clearly so that we may join Him where He is at work!
