With only a few weeks remaining in our Acts journey, I wanted to begin sharing with you where I sense the Holy Spirit is taking us next as a faith family.
Sunday, August 3… as we wrap up this particular journey through Acts…
- We’ll gather together for breakfast at 9:00am,
- We’ll worship together at 10:00am,
- We’ll celebrate our Savior as we observe the Lord’s Supper together.
Then, on August 10, we begin a four-week series I’m calling simplify/satisfy, building on the wisdom we find in the book of Ecclesiastes which reminds us where true fulfillment can only be found.
In the opening lines of one of the books I’m reading in preparation for this series, the pastor writes:
How long has it been
since your days had breathing room,
your schedule and finances were balanced,
and your relationships were running on all cylinders? How long since you felt
truly at peace,
replenished,
and connected to God?
Years ago, one of my favorite worship leaders – a gentleman by the name of Dennis Jernigan – wrote a song that remains one of my favorites. The first verse and chorus go like this:
Who can satisfy my soul like You?
Who on earth could comfort me and love me like You do?
Who could ever be more faithful, true?
I will trust in You, Lord, I will trust in You, my God.There is a Fountain, who is the King.
Victorious Warrior and Lord of everything.
My Rock, my Shelter, my very own.
Blessed Redeemer who reigns upon the throne.
Focus. Fulfillment. Joy. Peace. Purpose. Significance. Satisfaction.
Nobody’s saying it’ll be easy; but we can keep it simple!
