Did you know … the second Friday in January is often referred to as “Quitter’s Day?”
It’s the point in the New Year when people are most likely to abandon their resolutions. I’m not sure what resolutions you made this year, but if you’ve made it this far, let me be the first to say “Congratulations!” and “Don’t give up!”
Whether you are looking to shed a few pounds, run your first marathon, travel somewhere new, quit a habit, or learn a new skill…whatever it might be, power through this Friday
and keep going.
I believe it was Vince Lombardi, two-time Super Bowl champion and legendary coach of the Green Bay Packers, who is credited with saying, “Winners never quit, and quitters never win.”
Scripture says it a little differently, but I think we can still get the idea:
Let us not get tired of doing good,
Paul, Galatians 6:9
for we will reap at the proper time if we don’t give up.
Do no fear, for I am with you;
Isaiah, 41:10
do not be afraid, for I am your God.
I will strengthen you; I will help you;
I will hold on to you with my righteous hand.
Then Jesus told His disciples
Luke, 18:1
a parable on the need to pray always
and not give up.
And while there’s not enough room to print in its entirety, let me encourage you to read and be encouraged by Hebrews 12:1 – 2 (author unknown).
All that to say, whatever God has called you to this year, He will provide everything you need to see it through.
In the same way, whatever He is calling US to this year, He will also provide all that WE need to see it through.
2025, here we come!
