Pastor Elmer Floyd (July 5, 1952 – October 27, 2025)

For the past several weeks, we’ve been in a sermon series
entitled Outlive Your Life, focusing our hearts on leaving legacies that last for generations because the lives we live point others to Jesus.

This week, we officially begin a series entitled Unspeakable Joy, walking through Paul’s letter to the Philippians, focusing our hearts on where real joy can truly be found… in Jesus. While it’s not a time that we would choose, I cannot think of two themes that better embody my friend: legacy and joy

Charles Spurgeon wrote:

Thou has put me in this world for something, Lord.
Show me what it is, and help me to work out my life-purpose…
I am Thine;
take me, and enable me to glorify Thee now,
in all that I say, in all that I do, and with all that I have.

Leaving a legacy means living on purpose. Everything else is just existing. You can describe Elmer a number of ways, but
just existing” is never going to be one of them.

Excited disciple of Jesus.
Husband. Father. Grandfather.
Student Pastor. Lead Pastor.
Church Planter. Evangelist. Bible Teacher.
Minister to Senior Adults. Hospital/Homebound Visitor.
Preschool Chaplain. Prayer Warrior.
Elder. Encourager.

Devoted to the Church.
Committed to ministry.
Constantly on mission.
Always serving (he couldn’t sit still).

And we’re just getting started… a life well outlived.

“Well done, good and faithful servant” was not just spoken in Heaven this week, but is going to be continually proclaimed across hearts and lives for generations to come because of Elmer’s faithfulness to his Savior, the Gospel, and the
unspeakable joy he found in Jesus!

Well done, my friend. Well done.
