Photo of Happier than a camel on Wednesday!

While we are probably most familiar with the GEICO Gecko (extra points if you know his name without having to Google it), the company has used a variety of mascots and ad    campaigns throughout the years.

One of my favorites debuted around 2013 with a commercial showing a camel walking around an office, irritatingly asking anybody and everybody to guess what day it was… You guessed it: “HUMP Day!”

When asked how happy people were switching to GEICO and saving money, the ad concluded with the line… “Happier than a camel on Wednesday!”

Just FYI – it’s called “Hump Day” because it marks the middle of a typical work week, you’ve reached the peak of the   workload, and it’s supposedly all “downhill” moving toward the weekend.

While there’s nothing magical or even biblical about   Wednesdays, somewhere along the way, churches adopted it as an opportunity to come back together for worship, Bible studies, and other activities. If I were to summarize the purpose in one word, it would be “refuel.”

On September 3, we are taking a new approach to Wednesdays as we search for that balance of simplifying our lives and schedules while still providing those midweek    opportunities to come together and refuel.

While our SURF 56 and Students (7 – 12) will continue to gather EVERY WEEK with a few breaks here and there, our SURF Kids (birth – 4th) and Adult Bible Study are going to move to a first and third Wednesday of the month schedule… aka F1RST & 3RD.

In the handout, you’ll see the dates listed for you in the center section, along with the typical schedule for each Wednesday. Please do not hesitate to let us know if you have any questions or need us to clarify. It’s a work in progress, but we’re excited to see what God has in store!

His name is Martin, by the way. Martin the Gecko.
